BANFI LAUNCHES TWO NEW WINES AT VINITALY

Leading Tuscan producerCastello Banfiwill be unveiling two new additions to its Banfi Toscana range at this year’s Vinitaly exhibition -Stand No. D6 , Pavilion 8.

Joining the “Baby Super Tuscan” collection is Collepino 2005- a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot- which has been created specifically for the On-Trade. Cristina Mariani-May, Family Proprietor, compares Collepino to Col di Sasso, a Sangiovese-Cabernet Sauvignon blend that is currently the most popular wine in the range.  Both are young, fresh, easy drinking, fruit-forward wines, she says, though two months aging in oak gives Collepino added complexity.  “Collepinois a very satisfying food wine,” said Ms. Mariani-May.  “Zesty and straightforward, it is the kind of wine that has always been enjoyed at table in trattorie and private homes throughout Tuscany.”

Centine Rosé 2006is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.  Theonly rosato winefrom Banfi,Centine Rosémarks the winery’s first foray into a dynamic and growing category.  With its distinctive packaging, the wine is thoroughly stylish - right down to its Stelvin closure, another first for Banfi.  “The freshness and fruit aromas of this young blend will be protected and enhanced by this type of seal,” said Ms. Mariani-May.  “It was a thoroughly appropriate choice by our winemakers for their most contemporary and appealing wine.”

In addition to the rest of theToscana IGT range, the Castello Banfi stand will offer itsBrunello di MontalcinoandSant’Antimo DOCsingle vineyard ranges as well as selections produced at sister-wineryVigne Regaliin Piedmont.

The Castello Banfi Vineyard EstateofMontalcino,Tuscany, is one of Italy’s most recognised and significant quality producers.  It has been particularly recognized for its 15 years ofextensive researchinto the native Sangiovese clones for Brunello.  Not only have the results of this pioneering work gone intoBanfi’sown wines, hallmarked by the cruPoggio alle Mura, but they have also beenshared with neighbouring producers, making Banfi instrumental inraising the bar for the qualityof Brunello throughout the region.
