“The most favourable environmental and climatic conditions yielded for a very much extended crop. In total, we harvested for 44 working days and the picking lasted till the end of October. The prolongation of the harvest period allowed for the perfect ripening of the latest varieties such as the Sangiovese grape. The polyphenolic aspect, the colour and the structure took huge advantage from the continuance of the picking of the grapes resulting in exceptional full body wines, yet with soft tannins and good acidity and which preserve a great elegance. I would say that the 2009 vintage celebrates the main typical characteristics of one of the most historical Montalcino’s wine production area, where Castello Banfi’s vineyards are located.”
