Poggio alle Mura, the cru of Brunello di Montalcino from the Castello Banfi vineyard estate, triumphed in the annual native grape competition “Perfect Wines 2011” at the VitignoItalia fair. The competition is organized through a double jury which awards top wines made in Italy from native grape varietals.
A committee from the Association of Italian Sommeliers (AIS) held rigorous blind tastings of 300 wines, narrowing the selection down to a final 20 – one winner for each varietal. But the final verdict was left up to trade visitors and wine enthusiasts at the VitignoItalia (Vineyard Italy) exhibition; their tastings confirmed the selections of the jury.
A double achievement for Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura 2005, with a ruling from a panel of experts upheld by an audience of wine lovers!
