The postcard-perfectCastello Banfi Estateis situated close to the picturesque village of Montalcino in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.
Known for the excellence of its range of wines, Banfi has now turned its highly talented hand toguest rooms and suites-‘Il Borgo’- with the same flair, charm and level of luxury that you would expect from this Italian producer whoserestaurantwas awarded aMichelin starwithin a year of opening.
The 14 individually decorated and hand painted luxury rooms of‘Il Borgo’are built inside the stone houses of the 18thcentury hamlet which runs alongside Banfi’s 13thcentury castle, or castello. The elegantly comfortable interiors are the work of leading Italian designer Federico Forquet and reflect the warmth and colours of Tuscany. No attention to detail has been spared when it comes to the well-being of Banfi’s guests, from the linens and fabrics to the choice of bedside books and the range of ‘vinoterapia’ cosmetics (made with Banfi’s Sangiovese grapes) in the well-furnished bathrooms.
Il Borgo guests have just a two minute meander to theEstate’s Michelin starred ‘Il Ristorante’which offers a sophisticated dining experience. They also have exclusive evening use ofBanfi’s La Taverna, located in the vaulted cellars of the castello, which serves typically Tuscan dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Pergola Garden, hillside swimming pool, fitness room and reading room are available for guest use. The hilltop Estate also houses the ‘Enoteca’ shop, a Museum of Glass and Banfi’s Balsameria where they produce a rich, concentrated balsamic vinegar using ancient Etruscan recipes. For those wishing to explore further afield, Il Borgo staff are happy to arrange hiking, cycling and shopping expeditions, as well as treatments at nearby spas.
FromAutumn 2007, Castello Banfi will be offering‘Beck At Banfi’food and wine courses in partnership withHeinz Beck, one of only five Chefs in Italy with three Michelin stars.
