Tuscan Rewind

A prestigious and international motorsport event characterized by the attendance of the most important cars and the most significant champion drivers who made the history of the rally that between the ‘70s and the ‘90s made famous the Montalcino and the Siena region among all the enthusiast of this sport. Castello Banfi, unique wine producer and main sponsor of this event, it participates enthusiastically to its organization. The magnificent Castello di Poggio alle Mura will be the exclusive scenario of numerous activities linked to Tuscan Rewind. On May 28th, the opening day of the event, just after the shakedown and the administrative checks and scrutineerings for cars and crews the news of the “autograph session” will take place at Castello Banfi, with the exhibition of the cars of the top drivers who will be fully available for their fans, then the posting of the starting order at the Congress Centre of Montalcino rally headquarters. Castello Banfi will host also the gala dinner for the crews participating on Saturday, May 29th. The path of Tuscan Rewind will run again through the most beautiful gravel special stages of the Siena province. The event is organized by Montalcino Motorsports and Fams – Federazione Automotoristica Sammarinese, with the patronage of the Municipalities of Montalcino, operative heart of the event, of Buonconvento and San Giovanni d’Asso, besides the Region Tuscany, with the precious support of the main sponsor Castello Banfi, of the media partner Auto Capital, and of the enthusiast besides prestigious sponsors Sandokan - Disinfestation Line - and Nannini Caffè e Pasticcerie Group, in the reference person of Alessandro Nannini, already successful F1 driver and today important entrepreneur. Right at the Tuscan Rewind Nannini will wear overall and helmet once again, taking part to the rally with great excitement. The same will do Miki Biasion, the popular two-times world rally champion, who will be racing during Tuscan Rewind, too, for the pleasure of enthusiasts. Historical cars until 1981 will be admitted to the start, they will rally with the “sisters” with higher historical interest from 1982 to 1996, whereas other fascinating rally queens will delight enthusiasts in the non-competitive show, the Legend Stars. PROGRAMME OF THE EVENT The 1st Tuscan Rewind will get to its heart on Friday 28th May with shakedown, administrative checks and scrutineerings for cars and crews, the news of the “autograph session” at Castello Banfi, with the exhibition of the cars of the top drivers, then the posting of the starting order at the Congress Centre of Montalcino rally headquarters. The following day there will be the start of the 1st Tuscan Rewind, with a route that will run in the area between Montalcino, Buonconvento and San Giovanni d’Asso, and will re-discover some special stages where unforgettable pages of the history of rallies of the World Championship were written during the 1980s and 1990s. And where the wheels of great cars and some of the champions that were unforgotten protagonists of that history will rally again.  On Saturday 29th May at 10.00 Leg 1 will start from piazza del Popolo in Montalcino, it will be made up of three special stages to be repeated twice (for total 45 km) with finish of the first part of the race in Montalcino at 18.00. On Sunday 30th May Leg 2 starts, once again at 10.00, with two special stages to be repeated twice (total 30 km), regrouping in Torrenieri and finish with prize-giving ceremony at 15.20.
