Dedicated vineyards sloping down from the historic Poggio alle Mura Castle crowning our estate. We chose this patch of land, particularly suited to grow Sangiovese, to plant, in 1992, the first vineyard resulting from over a decade of research to isolate the optimal selection of clones. Altitude: 210-220 meters above sea level. Position: Hillside.
100% Sangiovese, from an internal clonal combination.
The grape harvest is followed by vinification in Horizon hy bridstainless steel & wood tanks, with skin contact for 7-10 days. After an aging period of 12 months in French oak barriques, the wine is properly bottle-aged.
This Rosso di Montalcino of great elegance results from the perfect combination of tradition and innovation. Research in the vineyards, clonal selection and unique personality distinguish the wines from the Poggio alle Mura range, the prestigious selection by Castello Banfi.
Ruby red color. The bouquet is rich, with scents of cherry and blackberry, which results very well integrated with notes of tobacco and licorice. The structure is silky and enveloping, well supported by a good and consistent acidity. The aftertaste is long and smooth.
