Rosa Regale

Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG

Süße Schaumweine & Dessertweine

Rosa Regale

Herstellungsgebiet

The winemaker comment

  • Herstellungsmethode

Maceration of the grapes, after pressing and de-stemming, for 4/5 days at 5-6°C. Under a protective blanket of CO2, the must is pumped over eight times daily to enhance the transfer of color and aromatic elements from the skins. The wine is subsequently drawn off and filtered, then stored at 0°C before warming to 16°C and being inoculated with selected yeasts to induce fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Lowering the temperature to 0°C naturally arrests fermentation; the wine is immediately filtered and bottled to preserve its freshness.

  • Seasonal Outcome The water reserves, accumulated during a mild winter, determined an early vegetative growth, characterized by a spring that helped the phenologic phases. A quite warm summer has been mitigated by rainfalls by the second half of August, which helped a great maturation of the grapes, 10 days earlier than the previous year. Thus we had scented white wines, with the right balance of acidity, alcoholic content, quality and freshness, and harmonic red wines, with a solid structure, with complex perfumes and long aging potential.

  • Seasonal Outcome The growing cycle began slightly in advance. We had a very rainy spring and cool temperatures, and well below the seasonal average, in the summer months. This meant that the maturation of the grapes took place with a delay of about 10 days compared to the previous years. The harvest of early varieties was facilitated by a rather cool beginning of September, while late varieties enjoyed a rise in temperatures in the last decade of the month, which allowed for a full ripening of the grapes.

Summer saw a return to regular average temperatures in July through mid-August, when a sudden heat wave raised temperatures over 40°C (104°F) through the end of the month. A sun-drenched September, with normal average temperatures, allowed for a good harvest.

  • Seasonal Outcome A winter of heavy snowfall was followed by a spring with normal rainfall. Initial phases of the vegetative cycle proceeded along regular patterns until the second ten days of May, when the high temperatures accelerated growth and resulted in flowering and fruit set. Rainfall in June provided good hydric reserve in the soil, allowing for optimal ripening of the grapes about ten days in advance. Overall this has been a good harvest with peaks of excellence.
Verkostungen

  • Seasonal Outcome Heavy winter snows followed by copious rainfall throughout the warm spring combined to delay the start of the vine’s growth cycle. A return to average summer temperatures helped the grapes to recover and achieve normal ripeness. Dry weather and a good difference between day and night temperatures at the end of August/beginning of September yielded an excellent harvest.
