July 7th marks the opening of the seventh edition of “Jazz & Wine in Montalcino,” a noted concert series promoted by Jazz & Image of Rome, the Castello Banfi winery, and the Town of Montalcino. Concerts will take place in two impressive venues this year; once again in the imposing medieval fortress of Montalcino located in the heart of the city known for its Brunello, and for the first time at the historic Castello Banfi, located just 7 miles out of town and crowning the rolling hills of the renowned vineyard estate by the same name.
The concerts will reflect the various interpretations of jazz, a sign of the genre’s popularity. Significant musicians from the international scene will perform, with a notable presence of Italian artists, ranging from Blues to South African and Latin jazz.
Joe Zawinul and his “Zawinul Syndicate” will perform on July 8, followed by the Argentinian “Tango Negro Trio” of Carlos “Tero” Buschini (July 9), the Scott Henderson Blues Band (July 10) and the original “Incontro di Jazz” which will feature Enrico Rava, Danilo Rea and Roberto Gatto accompanied by the incomparable voice of the great Gino Paoli (July 13). Another great voice, Rossana Casale, will close the festival on July 17. The July 7 and 14 concerts will be hosted in the courtyard of Castello Banfi, a sign of the growing success of this festival.
Another great lineup to celebrate the encounter between two of life’s greatest pleasures: jazz music and quality wine.
